"As a glass artist, I strive to make clean, simple, and well-designed pieces. My attention is focused on line and color. These characteristics become the driving forces behind my designs."
Pablo Soto was born a natural talent whose aesthetic is rooted in form and function. He believes this stems from his family, all of whom are potters and artists. Soto constantly learned from the influences around him, absorbing new techniques and inspirations.
Soto fell in love with glass at an early age, after watching Italian master glassblower Lino Tagliapietra work at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. In college, he became fascinated with the fiery process of moving and creating with glass. He immediately found his voice in the functional object, and set about learning the skills he needed to create the shapes in his mind. These skills have allowed him to realize his visions in a way that was impossible before.
Though his work is rooted in ancient techniques, Soto's pieces exude a distinctive sleek and contemporary feel.
